Me too bollywood virals

For a long time filmmakers in Bombay, worked on a “masala” formula to make movies. The eighties and nineties were full of such movies with most of them flopping big time.
Virals in India developed by corporates has also seen a similar trend – doing spoofs on hindi movies.
Aren’t these also working on a similar formula? Rehashing old hindi movies in such spoofs.
How successful are these?
From industry sources, the no. of plays/views would be anywhere from 20 k to 100 k. Nowhere near some of the international virals with millions of views.

Since there are no industry success benchmarks for virals the corporates will have to learn from their experience and figure out.
On the other hand, rehashing old songs in the form of remixes was a huge hit and still doing well. So there might be merit in doing the same with the virals.
I guess only time will tell with more virals being developed and compared with results made public by sites like Youtube (the great leveler).
