Things to be aware and beware of

1. “Taxi Syndicate” at Siliguri SNT (bus terminus). Should approach individual taxi drivers to avoid them.

2. At Yuksom

a. Registration at the Police Station with the guide and porters before leaving for the trek
b. Entry fee for the entire group at the Kangchenjunga National Park entrance
c. Camping site fee at Tourism office
d. Stern instructions to guide and porters before the trek to avoind alcohol and misbehaviour during the trek

3. Rauf, the unreliable Manager of the Hotel Demazong. We wasted a day because of the commitments he couldn’t deliver w.r.t. porters

4. Leeches in the forest, swamps. Carry salt and matchbox to ward them off.
