Lobuche East Peak Climb
20 Apr ‘24: Everest Expedition 2024: Lobuche East
In the early morning hours of 20th April 2024, I along with three team members and two Sherpa guides summited Lobuche East peak (6,119 m/20,070 ft).
A summit push that started at 1:30 am in the night with around 500 m of technical climbing on a steep wall of hard ice and rock. The last portion one had to jump over a crevasse, climb a 90 deg wall to get on the true summit so small that could barely fit 2-3 climbers
As Ed Viesturs once said, “Getting to the top is optional. Getting down is mandatory”, getting down here was indeed mandatory and tough.
I have to admit that the climb was harder than I expected. However, this was a very good climb in terms of getting acclimatised, practising technical skills and testing gear ahead of our Mt. Everest Expedition.
More to follow on that. Keep on tuned. Click on the following link to know more.
